Build your confidence in die making during this three-day workshop, where you will create conforming and nonconforming dies in tool steel for use in the hydraulic press. You will learn the art of carving your design into the steel, finishing and polishing, hardening in the kiln and tempering. You will also learn how to make your own rolling mill pattern plate. This is a must-have class for taking your work to the next level in your production and one-of-a-kind pieces. A kit will be available for purchase, costing $45.

Conforming & nonconforming dies
Meet Peter
Born and raised in Taos, New Mexico, I grew up in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, developing a passion for climbing. At the same time I worked during the summer for my uncle, master goldsmith Phil Poirier, owner of Bonny Doon Engineering. With this grounding in machining, die making and hydraulic forming I created my first line of jewelry in 2011.
Over the last 8 years I have worked to innovate new techniques and to push the limits of tools and machinery in order to create the metal work that I do. During my climbs, the texture of granite and the amazing views from a summit have provided my inspiration. Bringing that to my jewelry has been a game changer. The studio is conveniently located 8 miles outside of Washington, DC. It is 1 mile from the Washington beltway (Rt 495) and is accessible via three airports including Dulles (IAD), Baltimore Washington (BWI) and Reagan National (DCA). There are many hotels and Airbnbs to choose from.
